This tragic story of how a young woman driving her SUV, stoned on weed and distracteddly eating her McDonald's breakfast, ran a red light in Anchorage and killed a 14-year old boy riding his bike to work. The victim had already led a difficult life in foster homes, and but was overcoming past challenges when his life was cut short. This story illustrates all too well the dangers both of driving while impaired, and just as importantly, driving while distracted - in this case eating a meal. Whether it is cell phone use, texting, eating, or whatever, the evidence is clear. Distracted driving kills. You can read the sad details here in the Anchorage Daily News. Our thougths and prayers go out to this young man's family and friends.
