Motorcycle Accident Expert Prof. Harry Hurt, Reknowned Author of the "Hurt Report," Dies at 81

Professor Harry Hurt, who in the eyes of many was the world's foremost authority on motorcycle crash causation, died in Pomona, CA on November 29.  Author of the famous "Hurt Report" published in 1981 by the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration ("NHTSA"), Prof. Hurt conducted the most exhaustive study on motorcycle crashes ever conducted.  You can read a great summary of the report's findings here.  Most recently, he provided helpful advice to me when I was writing my new book on the rights of motorcyclists injured in crashes.  He was an extremely nice, intelligent man, who accomplished a great deal, and will surely be missed by freinds, family, and the entire motorcycling community at large.  You can read more about Professor Hurt in today's Washington Post.
